This 3.5 km (2,2 mile) loop trail climbs gradually up from Riomaggiore and arrives at the Sanctuary of Montenero, an 11th-century church above the town. I took a 6am direct train from Milan to Monterosso Al Mare and arrived just after 9am. It takes about 5 hours to hike the entire distance, not counting the time to explore and linger in each town.

This 3.5 km (2,2 mile) loop trail climbs gradually up from Riomaggiore and arrives at the Sanctuary of Montenero, an 11th-century church above the town.
