Make sure ripple editing is on (in the default toolbar), and then hit delete to remove the segment. The first step is to create a click track. With Reaper DAW, you can record all of your instruments (including plug in effects) at once with a live backing band, or, if you are working alone, one at a time, playing back previous recordings while recording new tracks alongside them.
